exhibition « Ja as long as I can »
A K Dolven is presenting three new and unseen productions.
The title of the exhibition comes from one of her latest pieces, a sound piece made in a one-off collaboration with the famous American artist and poet, John Giorno. In ‘JA as long as I can’ (2012) A K Dolven blends her own voice with Giorno’s. The voice is treated as a medium in itself, however intangible, through its texture and its multiple nuances, revealing the history, emotions and cultural attitudes of both artists.
The video installation ‘Vertical on my own’ (2011) invites us to pursue the movements, anamorphic images and extreme shadows created by the figure of someone running through a snow-covered landscape under a full moon in the Arctic Circle.
‘When I discovered the end I wanted to live really long’ is a video installation guiding the spectator to a rear-projected short black and white video. In this silent film, white areas feature a freezing body, trembling in time to an extract from Henry Purcell’s opera ‘King Arthur’.
