To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the CCC has an original offering. A series of exhibitions is being displayed in mobile living modules designed by Alix Héaume and Adrien Robain of the rh+architecture practice. These were installed at the CCC for 365 days, in the course of which twenty or so artists came one after the other to ‘inhabit’ these unusual sculptural spaces. They are limited in size and their forms are organic and cave-like without any flat surfaces, making them the opposite of any kind of neutrality afforded by the “white cube”, the norm for exhibition spaces.

 

Home Sweet Home questions the way in which art creates its own space within an art gallery. The living modules by RH+ constitute an intermediate stage between the space imposed by the gallery and the space imposed by the house.

 

Home Sweet Home creates a dialogue between the artist and the curator, focussing on a single project and a space on a human scale.  This fundamental exchange at the heart of the artistic process precisely mirrors what the CCC has always made its priority over the last 25 years.
